Happy Wednesdayyy!. Hope you’re all feeling festive!.
It’s turned into a little tradition where each year we explore Christmas markets in a different city/town. Last year was Leeds this year it was York. I adore York it’s simply beautiful and only about an hour and a half away from Newcastle on the train.
Our day started out in a bit of a tether due to our train being delayed due to the snowy weather we have had in the North, but once we arrived in York we left our troubles behind. I felt a little like a tour guide as my mom’s never been to York on the train before so she wasn’t familiar with the short walk from the station to the centre.
I adore the walk over the bridge and seeing York Minster ahead of you. I love that the Minster is one of the first thing’s you see when you come into York.
After we had taken some snaps of the Minster we headed down towards York Shambles and off for some Lunch.
As I’ve not been to York for a few years I didn’t know they had a Bills. I’ve heard so many people talk about Bills in London so naturally I wanted to see what the fuss was about. We just missed out on breakfast so we chose from their lunch menu. All of the menu was main meal type food no sandwiches or anything like that, which was a little disappointing as I prefer a sandwich for lunch rather than a main meal. Everything on the menu was expensive something like £9.95 per main meal, but as a treat why not indulged a little. I went for the Macaroni cheese with mushrooms and leaks and my mam got a Butternut squash and feta cheese quiche. I liked my food but my mam wasn’t a fan of hers. The place was very popular to the point of being full to capacity. I to be honest liked it but don’t really know what the fuss was about unless it’s all in the breakfasts who knows haha.
After we had finished we headed around for a wander along the market stalls deciding on what cheese and fudges we wanted. You can’t got to a Christmas market and not buy cheese and fudge ( well I certainly can’t).
Of course it would be rude not to stop off for a hot chocolate. I love the festive cups, it definitely got me in the mood for Christmas. After our hot chocolates we had another look around the shops and bought couple of bit’s a piece’s (which is included in my vlog and on my Instagram – xamylouise89x)
I had a lovely time in York and would highly recommend it to anyone. The Christmas market was fabulous and very festive. I will for sure be heading back here next Christmas as we missed out on Christmas at York museum and garden’s as we had to go for our train. It looked super festive and has an admission fee of £14.95.
Have you been to any Christmas Markets yet? I for one love them!.
Ps there will be a little vlog of my day in York over on my channel very soon!
Thank you for reading xxx
