Ever since I picked up Zoe Sugg’s book ‘Cordially Invited’ I’ve wanted to make these orange aroma slices. This year I made it my mission to actually do it and I’m so pleased I did.
Her book says it takes up to 4 hours for the oranges to dry out so you need to do this on a day where you haven’t much on.
This is pretty easy to do tbh all you need to do is cut the oranges from the waist and put onto baking parchment paper into the oven on the lowest temperature and leave to dry out, turning them over regular so that they dry out evenly/ don’t burn.
After reading a few other posts on this I decided it was best because we have a fan oven just to leave them on the oven tray rather than on the parchment paper so that they are air all the way around. Before placing them into the oven I did try to get some of the juice out using kitchen roll. They didn’t take that long to dry out in the oven if I’m honest about 3 3 and a half hours at the most.
I popped the dried oranges into our garland that sits on the windowsill in our kitchen and it just makes it look even better especially when it gets dark and we turn the lights on the garland. I will be honest in the fact that I was expecting to be able to smell the oranges once they were dried out but you can’t at all despite the fact I bought big juicy looking ones. I really enjoyed doing these and it’s something I’ve now ticked off my list.
